Large heat pump or chiller available with low GWP refrigerants

10 May 2022

A German manufacture is introducing a redesigned equipment series available as a water-water heat pump and a water-cooled chiller for brine applications and are available with A2L low-GWP R-1234ze refrigerant and the high-efficiency non-flammable refrigerants R-515B (F-gas GWP 293), R-514A (F-gas GWP 7) and R-134a (F-gas GWP 1430). The heat pump version provides condenser leaving water temperatures of up to 65°C and up to 3.1 megawatts. If the compressor is powered with green electricity from renewable energy, the machine can be operated in carbon-neutral fashion.

The oil-free machine design makes the system unique in the market for large heat pumps and makes the system highly energy-efficient throughout its service life with improved operational reliability. The very high energy efficiency in heating mode means the system exceeds the requirements of the Ecodesign Directive by a multiple, and also easily meets the efficiency requirements stipulated by the BAFA federal fund for efficient buildings (BEG).

Note: The German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) administers the ‘Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings’ (BEG) scheme. The programme provides funding for renewable-based heating systems and energy efficiency in buildings.
