High capacity compressors using F-gases designed for comfort cooling, extreme ambient climates and data centres

18 October 2023

New oil free compressors using F-gas refrigerants offer high-capacity energy-efficient solutions for comfort cooling, intensive ambient environments, and data centre applications. The compressors are designed for use with either low-GWP refrigerants HFO-1234ze (mildly flammable A2L GWP 1.37 AR6 value) and R-515B (non-flammable A1, GWP 293 AR4 value), or optimised to use the non- flammable refrigerants R-134a and low-GWP R-513A (GWP 632 AR4 value), and designed for operation in heating and cooling applications at extreme temperatures. The expanded operating map for the compressors enables use in water-to-water heat pumps and heat-recovery applications, generating hot water up to 68°C.They can be used in air-cooled chiller applications operating in extreme ambient temperatures of up to 52°C and generate water temperatures up to 30°C when used in data-centre applications. The compressors feature a unique magnetic bearing technology that eliminates the need for compressor oil management, resulting in less maintenance, greater energy efficiency throughout the system and contribute to a longer expected machine life. In air-cooled chiller applications, OEMs can reduce the number of compressors in their chiller designs, in favour of a simpler solution, which can reduce costs and allow for easier installation and less maintenance.
