PROPANE EXPLOSION IN A GERMAN REFRIGERATED WAREHOUSE

An explosion occurred during maintenance works in a German refrigerated warehouse refrigeration unit using propane as a refrigerant, during which the refrigeration unit was being emptied and purged with nitrogen. Two workers were severely burned and six other persons injured.

According to Police first indications, the explosion was caused by incorrect maintenance procedures.
