HFC-32 HYBRID VRF HEAT PUMP AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WINS SUSTAINABILITY AWARD

26 March 2019

Introduced in 2018 (see EFCTC Newsletter No159 July-August 2018) the Hybrid VRF has been awarded the Low Carbon Initiative prize at the Edie Sustainability Awards. It combines variable refrigerant flow and chiller technologies, using water throughout the majority of the pipework to transfer simultaneous heating and cooling to different rooms and offers two-pipe heat recovery. The use of HFC-32 instead of R-410A provides high operational efficiency, while the hybrid VRF system avoids the need for indoor leak detection as water (instead of refrigerant) delivers the heating or cooling.
