Dear subscriber,
In this EFCTC October newsletter, we report on the submission to ECHA of the independent Socio-Economic Analysis (SEA) of the contribution of certain fluorinated gases (F-gases) to the economy and wider society. This study explores the potential economic and social effects of the proposed restriction on PFAS on activities associated with the manufacture, placing on the market and use of the F-gases in scope. We also report on the findings of an expert panel, convened to provide insight and guidance on per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) grouping for the purposes of protecting human health from drinking water exposures, and how risks to PFAS mixtures should be assessed. We cover the International Energy Agency (IEA) report, Technology and innovation pathways for zero-carbon-ready buildings by 2030. Heat pumps, district energy networks and renovation of existing building stock are crucial components to achieve this objective. We also cover the rapid expansion in transport refrigeration systems using electric compressors and fully electric external electrical supply that use non-flammable F-gas refrigerants (R-452A, R-410A and R-134a).
Finally, we report on a state-of-the-art marine Waste Heat Recovery Organic Rankine Cycle to achieve high efficiency and energy-saving in marine applications. Interested in EFCTC’s list of upcoming events relating to fluorocarbons? You can find them listed at the bottom of the newsletter and on the fluorocarbons.org website. Thank you for your continued interest in EFCTC.
