Dear subscriber,
In this EFCTC May newsletter, we report on the start of the Trialogue negotiation on the revision of the F-gas Regulation and a joint industry statement on the Council negotiating mandate, which has taken a flexible approach to the F-gas regulations. We also discuss the new EU National Inventory Report for greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, which shows that although overall emissions increased in 2021 by 6.2% compared to 2020, hydrofluorocarbons (HFC) emissions decreased by 4.3% compared to 2020. We proceed in this newsletter with a recently published hazard and risk assessment review of the mammalian toxicity of trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) and its exposure to humans. This publication is timely due to its relevance to the public consultation for the PFAS restriction proposal. Finally, we report on a project about a high efficiency centrifugal chiller, which uses HFO-1234ze(E) as a refrigerant and has received an Excellence Award in Japan for its advancement of energy saving. Do you want to learn more about EFCTC’s list of upcoming events relating to fluorocarbons? You can find them at the bottom of the newsletter and on the fluorocarbons.org website. Thank you for your continued interest in EFCTC.
