EFCTC: F-Gas Regulation :What must be labelled?

The F-Gas Regulation requires certain labelling requirements from 4 July 2007, but the implementation regulation for labelling provides a 9 months transition from entry into force, which may be in October 2007, so that a transition to the new labelling requirements may be until June 2008.

At present there is a draft implementation regulation, which defines the labelling requirements. Although this is not yet final the key points are unlikely to change significantly. The labelling and manual requirements apply to:

  • All Refrigeration products and equipment containing PFCs.
  • All refrigeration and air-conditioning equipment (except in motor vehicles), heat pumps containing HFCs.
  • All F-Gas containers placed on the market
  • There are also labelling requirements for fire protection systems and fire extinguishers, and switch gear containing SF6 but these are not explained here.
