Process of the 2014 Regulation Adoption

The revised F-Gas Regulation (EU) No 517/2014 has been published on May 20 in the Official Journal of the European Union. The text, which repeals the 2006-F-Gas Regulation, enters into force on June 9 and will apply from 2015.

Currently the necessary implementing acts are being prepared to render the Regulation properly applicable by January 2015. Official information can be obtained through the European Commission’s website

The 2014 F-Gas Regulation aims at cutting EU’s F-gas emissions by two-thirds compared with 2014 levels.
The final text  was approved on 17th December 2013 by the European Member States ambassadors. Following steps were its acceptance by votes in the Parliament Environment Committee and then in the Parliament plenary, and finally by the EU Council of Ministers on 14 April 2014.

The final agreed text for the F-Gas Regulation review was approved on 17th December 2013 by the European Member States ambassadors. It has been accepted by a vote, firstly in the Parliament Environment Committee and then in the Parliament plenary, where it was adopted by 644 votes to 19, with 16 abstentions, and finally by the EU Council of Ministers on 14 April.
