HFO-1234ze, for which the US EPA has accepted a GWP of only 6, is being used as a propellant for non flammable technical aerosols.

It has been introduced to complement HFC-134a (with a higher GWP) and flammable HFC-152a or butane/propane blends.

Technical aerosols are mainly used for electrical and electronical equipment, to remove all dust and airborne contamination from fragile or inaccessible areas, or as a non-corrosive refrigerant used for cooling small components.
