A company specialized in aeroplane products has recently made trials to produce a new onboard insecticide range using HFO-1234ze (CF3CF-CH2) as a propellant, to replace HFC-134a.

Because of the aeroplanes on-board safety requirements the company decided not to use flammable substances on board or for cleaning the planes interior or exterior.

Trials have shown HFO-1234ze to behave similarly to HFC-134a, while offering the combination of both non-flammability and low global warming potential.
