  • Guide to the F-Gas Regualtion (EC517/2014)

Mexichem Fluor has been an active supporter of an appropriate revision to the previous EU F-Gas regulation (EC842/2006) and believes that, while not ideal, the new F-Gas regulation (EC517/2014) is workable and enables HFCs to continue to be used while at the same time encouraging the use of lower GWP products.

The Role of HFCs in Long Term Climate Change

There is ample evidence to show that HFCs have minimal (less than 1%) contribution to climate change at present. Furthermore, the records show that emissions of HFCs from developed countries have slowed in recent years.

    Trifluoroacetic acid - Latest update

HCFCs and HFCs break down readly in the lower atmosphere to form simple inorganic species already naturally present in the environment. However, in a few cases the break down is expected to stop at trifluoroacetic acid, a naturally occurring substance which is apparently resistant to further degradation.

EFCTC welcomes the way the article "Paris via "Montreal in the edition of September 20th, 2014 brings the debate on the role of fluorocarbons in climate change to wider audience. EFCTC strongly supports the inclusion of HFCs and other F-gases in the Montreal Protocol as a means of limiting their climate impact but we feel that there are some issues that need to be clarified.
