WEEE

WEEE (Waste of Electrical and Electronic Equipment)

The EU “Directive on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE)” aims to reduce the quantity of waste from electrical and electronic equipment and increase its re-use, recovery and recycling. The Directive affects producers, distributors and recyclers of electrical and electronic equipment.

Fluorocarbons are involved as far as household appliances like refrigerators and freezers are covered by the Directive.

Legislation : Directive 2002/96/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 27 January 2003on waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE)

(a company Directive on the Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment (RoHS) doesn’t address Fluorocarbons).
